How much does a mural cost?
It all depends upon the size and complexity of the overall piece. Designs that are simple with not too much detail will obviously take less time to do, therefore costing less. Carrot Top Art will try to work to all budgets and can make suggestions so that you can incorporate what you like. To give you a rough idea, prices range from £5 per square foot for simple murals upto £15 per square foot for complex designs.
What is a mobile mural and what is involved?
A mobile mural is a great option if you want minimum disturbance in your home as the mural can be done off site, plus you won’t need to worry about preparing the walls, as it will be installed simply with screws and wall plugs, all of which will be done for you, and the best thing is, you can take it with you when you move!
Do I need to pay a deposit if I decide to commission a mural?
We usually ask for a deposit of 25% of the total cost (deducted from the total cost) before starting the project.
Is the cost of the paint included in the price?
Yes. We cover the cost of all materials used. If you are having a mobile mobile the extra cost of the panelling will be added to the overall cost.
What kind of murals do you paint?
We specialise in murals and art work for babies, children and teenagers. TV and Movie characters are the most popular, but if you happen to have a piece of fabric or border you would like to tie into the room we can accommodate. Please note though, due to copyright, tv and movie characters can only be painted in a residential setting.
How long will the mural take to paint?
It depends on what you are having, a very simple design may only take a day or two, with a complex design taking anything from 7 – 14 days.
Mobile murals take a little less time because work is done at the studio.
What preparation is required?
Any wallpaper should be removed and cracks and flaking surfaces need to be repaired.
Two coats of vinyl matt white emulsion should be applied to the walls to give a suitable basis for the mural. If you are only requiring a small design, then you should paint your wall in your chosen background colour, we can discuss this when we meet.
If you require a Mobile Mural you will not need to prepare the walls.
We also ask that you clear all furniture either away from the walls, or out of the room.
What sort of paints do you use and are they safe?
All our murals are created using a combination of low odour high quality matt emulsion and acrylic paints, both of which are extremely hardwearing. A matt acrylic varnish can be applied over the finished mural for additional protection.
